In an emergency call: 911 If you have a choice use a land- line, or “wired” phone, as it may be a faster way of getting emergency medical help than using the cell phone. If you do use a cell phone just call 911. It is no longer advised to call dispatch centers using a direct number. AirMedCare (707) 239-2505 amcnrep.com Reach and Cal Star, both participating members of the AirMedCare Network, provide emergency helicopter transport that is weather dependent and based on medical need to the nearest appropriate medical facility. For a small annual fee you can sign up by phone, online, or pick up an application at TSRA office. We strongly recommend that you become a member; the non-member cost of helicopter transport is expensive. Sea Ranch residents receive a Group Discount from AirMedCareNetwork. CAL FIRE inspectors periodically visit Sea Ranch homes to review with owners the steps necessary to reduce flammable vegetation and create the required “defensible space” for firefighters to protect homes effectively, while taking into account our community values, such as maintaining privacy and the natural character of the site. The North Sonoma Coast Fire Protection District covers The Sea Ranch, Stewarts Point, and Annapolis in providing fire and other emergency services. Volunteers from these communities form the North Sonoma Coast Volunteer Firefighters Association (NSCVFA), which operates the North Fire Station, located on Highway 1 near the Chapel. The NSCVFA and CAL FIRE staff respond to emergency events 24/7 as one fire department. Note: On-site burning of vegetation can only be done outside the fire threat season and requires burn permits from CAL FIRE and the Northern Sonoma County Air Pollution Control District as well as a call on the day of the anticipated burn. 1-707-433-5911 or www. sonomacounty.ca.gov/Air-Quality/ Burn-Permits/51 Community Resources Sea Ranchers depend on the neighboring towns of Gualala, Anchor Bay, Annapolis, Point Arena, and Stewarts Point to satisfy a number of the basic needs of daily life. “The true magic of The Sea Ranch is the community itself, with its deep kindness and wonderfully thoughtful, creative people, many of whom give back through all kinds of volunteer activities.” Tim Fulkerson Gualala River Estuary © Jim Alinder52 Clockwise from top left: Pelicans © Rozanne Rapozo; Father and Son, Bluff above Shell Beach © Mary Alinder; Great Blue Heron © Betty Bailey; Child at Beach © Jasmine Alinder53 Community Resources Senior Services Coastal Seniors (707) 882-2137 coastalseniors.org This agency, serving those aged 60+, offers a variety of programs: • Meals on Wheels • Visitor Program to housebound seniors • Medical Equipment Loans • Local transportation for medical appointments and errands.
