Job Title: Security Officer
Department: Services and Communication
Position Status: Part time or full time based on current business need
Classification: Non-exempt
Reports To: Safety and Security Manager
Contacts: Heavy external member/customer interactions
Compensation: Hourly rate range: $19.29 – $24.85
Role Summary: This important role serves as an ambassador for The Sea Ranch Association (TSRA), ensuring community-wide safety and compliance for members, guests, and visitors through direct education and engagement.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintain a conspicuous presence by patrolling all areas of The Sea Ranch in an official vehicle or on-foot
- Educate and enforce TSRA Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CC&Rs), Rules and Bylaws, documenting infractions and issuing warning notices as necessary
- Coordinate and communicate with local, county, and state law enforcement and emergency service agencies for on-site response and situations requiring escalation and support
- Submit daily duty logs and incident reports and other documentation/reports using digital tools
- Monitor and secure TSRA facilities and buildings
- Perform welfare and property checks for at-risk members or at member request
- Complete and preserve California Bureau of Safety and Investigative Services (BSIS) license as well as first aid/CPR/AED training
- Respond to and assist with emergency situations as they arise and represents TSRA’s interest and participation.
- Perform basic maintenance and upkeep of Security vehicles, trailers and other equipment.
- Maintains strict standards of confidentiality regarding members’ private information and Association matters.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Possession of a valid California driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record
- 2+ years’ experience in operations, administration, customer service.
- Experience working with confidential information.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Prior experience with a public agency, homeowners association, or municipal environment is desirable.
- Prior experience in law enforcement, private security, emergency medical services, military service
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong organizational and project management skills and the ability to prioritize activities assuring that deadlines are met.
- Ability to examine, produce, interpret, and articulate policy documents and reports in English, and take directionand provide direction to others in English
- Team-oriented and collaborative approach with all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and PC equipment and programs, and manual dexterity to adeptly type and usecomputer, radio, and mobile equipment.
- Ability to communicate in English clearly and comfortably, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of organizational structure and to perform mathematical calculations required by the responsibilities of the role.
- Ability to maintain a superior customer service orientation at all levels of TSRA
- Ability to think independently while acting within the policy guidelines given, use good judgment and appropriatelevels of confidentiality, discretion, tact, and diplomacy.
- Flexible; enjoy multi-tasking while directing issues toward clarity and solutions; demonstrates resourcefulness insetting priorities.
- Represent TSRA in a collaborative, professional, and organized way to local, state, and national agencies andemergency service partners.
- Write routine reports and correspondence in an acceptable business format.
- Demonstrate personal and professional commitment to The Sea Ranch philosophy.
Physical Requirements:

- The ability to sit and work with hands and arms for at least eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week.
- Physical ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, walk, crawl, push and pull items weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Move throughout multiple offices and departments across TSRA
- Drive and operate a vehicle for multiple hours at a time during normal daily patrols
- Consistent and reliable onsite office attendance.
- Auditory and visual skills – Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to safely drive a variety of motorized vehicles and pass the state-required vision and other tests necessary to maintain a Class-C driver’s license.
Expected Hours of Work:
This position is a non-exempt hourly position that may be part-time or full-time based on business needs. Attendance at some weekend activities as required. Some emergency situations might require general availability on a limited basis.
